The club is set up as a Private Members Club, organized and managed through an Executive Secretary/Manager.  It has approx. 700 playing members, 500 are men, 130 are ladies and 70 are Junior/Cadets, mostly in full time education.  The Club also has around 60 Social Members drawn from the immediate vicinity who do not play golf but have full use of the clubhouse facilities.  Spouses of playing members are deemed to be Social Members without having to pay subscriptions.

Membership Categories
Membership is split into three categories: Full, Seven Day Restricted - a holding category for Full membership that allows play in the afternoons on weekends, and Five Day.  The Club has many competitions with regular Midweek and Monthly Medals and Stablefords, and many variations of Club Championships played in singles, pairs, fours and mixed knockouts.  The two most prestigious competitions are The Grenfell Cup for men, played since 1898 and donated by W. H. Grenfell (Lord Desborough) and The Ladies Challenge Cup which has been played for since 1907, a year after the Ladies Section was formed.

What is required to become a Member?
Ideally new applicants will have a Proposer and Seconder from the club, but this is not a necessity and if you do not know anyone at the club please just state as such.  We would also like you to have a club handicap but if you are a beginner or have a handicap in excess of 24 you will still be eligible for certain categories of membership and our Professional and Assistant have a strong reputation for excellent coaching and teaching.

Every prospective member will be asked to an informal interview where he or she can also raise any questions they may have. Potential members would normally be 'played in' over a few holes by one or two members of the membership committee.
